A short Sicilian language course for two, designed to help us move beyond standard Italian and better understand the language spoken across the island.
Over several lessons with a local tutor, we’ll learn the rhythms and expressions of Sicilian, including how to greet neighbours, follow conversations in the piazza, and understand the words that rarely appear in textbooks but shape everyday life.
Recognised by UNESCO as a distinct language shaped by centuries of Greek, Arabic, Norman and Spanish influence, Sicilian carries the history of the island in its sounds. This course will help us begin to understand it enough to feel a little more at home when we spend time there.
